#Turkey seemed like nothing had changed today as we visited… No signs of civil unrest were visible in the gorgeous town as the sunny weather shone down on the picturesque harbour and all the boats right across the marina… It's hard to see how a country with as much culture and history and with the past strength of the ottoman empire in its roots, can be in such turmoil right now… For those put off visiting Turkey at the moment I'd say #bodrum would definitely be on one of my lists of places to visit. It felt so safe and was surprisingly tranquil and relaxing even in the bustling busy city centre… My previous experiences of turkey had soured my views of the country. It was a tough day today tapping out on the bike to #Ilkley… It's always difficult and a bit of a shock jumping on the bike after a long time off. But it's fair to say that after my scary hospital admission over xmas I've never felt worse on the bike than I did jumping back on today.Popping on the lycra this morning gave me a real scare as my bib tights hung off my legs as if they were hung out to dry. I used to have calf muscles and thighs but not any more… At the same time as feeling dreadful, I had a euphoria sort of moment out on the bike. Finally feeling well enough to ride again – even if it was at a record low pace – it felt wonderful. I've missed it so much and it felt too good to be back !We stopped off at #TheCommute where #TheWizzard #ChrisHope was working on the bikes, the coffee was flowing and the tomato soup and homemade sausage roll hit the spot. We then set off back home after a much needed break after only about a half hours riding.. — 30 Jan, 2017

My #Strava in 2017If you'd have asked me a little over a year ago how I'd feel about these stats today I'd have said I would be let down. I'd have said that I had massively underacheived and missed out on all my targets and goals for the year… … however looking back now on 2017 I'm thrilled with these numbers. It's been a very tough 12 months with lots of ups and downs. Physically I'm only just starting to feel like I'm getting back to my old self and even then I still have good days and very bad ones too… I look back a few months to when I was in tears every night in pain and emotionally down in the dumps. I was dreading my December work load with 16 gigs across the month and not many of them local and I was almost ready to give up. But I kept on fighting and was determined to not cave.December's work was a pleasure and comparatively easy. I now look forward to my work !The past few months in particular have been mentally tough having been attacked by several more debilitating physical symptoms which challenge me on a daily basis. However, I have to thank my family and friends for putting up with me and continuing to support me on this road to full recovery. It's hard to see your path to good health without an actual diagnosis for any of your symptoms- it almost makes you feel like a hypochondriac, as if the symptoms aren't actually real. However the love and support they bring keeps me going and facing in the right direction. Even if at times I'm slipping backwards on the scale of health, I keep facing in the right direction, swimming upstream against the ever frequent flowing current of regression.Here's to 2018, more miles on the bike, fresh new goals and targets, to personal milestones and to plotting and tredding that path through the foggy misty roads in the direction of recovery!Here's to the only two important things in life, the things that all others revolve around… Here's to health and happiness !#happiness #health #cycling #diabetes #diabeatthis #diabeatit #strava2017 #riding — 24 Dec, 2017

Another shot of the #msPaulGauguin this time from the beautiful beaches of the atoll island of #Favarava which is about 240km north east of #Tahiti The island is actually a very old one far down the natural sequence of deformation that exists in these #pacificocean tropical islands… There's no longer a central island but just a ring of islands and islets which surrounds this crystal clear blue lagoon.
